About Malaria
The Malaria is caused by protozoan parasites that attack and destroy red blood cells. The parasites are transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. There are 4 types of malaria.They are Plasmodium vivax (Pv),Plasmodium falciparum (Pf), Plasmodium ovale (Po) and Plasmodium malariae (Pm).
The disease now occurs in 95 countries worldwideand it is estimated that there are over 249 million clinical cases and 608,000 malariacaused deaths in 2022, 95 % of them are African children. The infection with P. falciparum, if not promptly treated,may be fatal.
